The members and friends of Grace Church Southall had great fun this weekend packing shoe boxes full of gifts, toys and sweets. But we weren’t wrapping gifts to give to each other, instead the church was helping a Christian charity called Mustard Seed Relief Mission with their annual Christmas shoe box appeal called ‘Love in a Box.’
Mustard Seed Relief Mission is an Eastbourne based Christian charity which provides much needed project work for disadvantaged children and sending humanitarian aid to the orphanages of the Ukraine and Moldova.
The charity begins collecting the boxes at the end of October every year. Schools, churches, other organisations and individuals collect and pack items into shoe boxes which are then sent to under privileged children throughout Eastern Europe. The charity estimate that they have sent on average 50,000 boxes each year and each one is individually received by a child.
Let us remember to give and serve this Christmas.
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45)
