Everybody loves Christmas because of its ability of bringing warmth in the coldest month of the year. The Christmas festivities are in full flow right now. Many people are getting excited about a lot of things; holidays, Christmas dinners, greeting cards, presents and rightly so!

However, there is also a tendency for us to forget the real reason behind Christmas. We understand from the Bible that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. (John 14:27)

1. He came to bring peace between you and God
He showed us by dying on the cross how heinous our sin is and how offensive it is to God and because of this we do not have any relationship with God rather we are enemies of God. While we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life (Romans 5:10).

2. He came to bring peace to you
Sin is the cause of guilt in our lives and this guilt has man made very sad and anxious. We often try to remove inner aches of sadness, loneliness, guilt by seeking peace in wrong places. Jesus said, “Come to Me all you who are weary and heavy leaden and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He could say that because He is that very peace (Ephesians 2:14a).

3. He came to bring peace between you and others
You only have to watch any news channel for a couple of minutes to know that there is something terribly wrong with this world. There is hostility between races, cultures, families, nations. Jesus came into this world to break down the dividing wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:14b) to bring peace between us and them.

So my friend, may I urge you to find peace in Christ this Christmas…
